Sustainable Development Projects

Dave Whiting and Associates supports client agencies and organizations by undertaking program development projects and program and governance evaluation.  Research and policy analysis skills have been applied to a number of projects including the following examples:

Riparian Areas Regulation (RAR) - The RAR pursuant to the Fish Protection Act is implemented in partnership with local government administration of bylaws.  Dave Whiting undertook a review of RAR implementation on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, Thompson-Nicola Region

Shuswap Lake Integrated Planning Process (SLIPP) - The SLIPP process is a multi-jurisdictional agency partnership that is collaboratively developing a plan for Shuswap and Mara Lakes. In conjunction with Rick Howie, RPBio., Dave is authoring a special report to clarify and summarize the legislative and governance framework associated with managing development on the shoreline and foreshore.

Understanding the Early Years (UEY) - UEY is a national initiative that enables members of communities across Canada to understand the needs of their young children and families so that they can determine the best programs and services to meet local needs.  This initiative was delivered in Kamloops through Make Children First.  Dave Whiting and Associates provided research, GIS and community mapping services, and statistical analysis of child development data, to support the production of research briefs and reports.  Examples of the research briefs are available for download on the UEY website.
